The Pied Writer

Turn Off The Lights...and Light A Candle

Hey there my groovy fan. Or is it fans now? Are there two? Awesome...! Praise the Lord and pass the panties.

Anywho, enough about that. I'm writing today because I am totally and completely stuck. Writing those extra randy scenes is a tricky business.

My question to other writers: did you ever blush and giggle like a school girl while writing your sexy time scenes?

I sure do. I'm seriously sitting in front of my computer giggling like it's the first time I heard the word...dare I say it? Penis. He..hee...

The Pied Writer

I. Just. Can’t. Do It. Captain…. I don’t Have The Power…
Why, hell-looo fans of the Pied Writer. I know what you’re thinking, “Today’s not Wednesday its Tuesday.” And, thanks to Rebecca Black, we’ll all forever know exactly what day of the week it is.
Please God don’t let it be…“’Friday…Friday. Gotta get up on, Friday…’”
This is a special edition of The Pied Writer. I figured you all deserved one given the fact that I’ve been slacking on my pimping lately.
N-E-Wayz—hey, check my spelling? And I fancy myself a writer. He-he.—today I’m talking about brain farts. We all have them, those times when the words are on the tip of your tongue, but you just can’t get them out. Or, better yet, those times when you’re literally mid-sentence and totally forget what you were writing, or God forbid, saying.

What Color Is Love?

Hello my far out chicks and happening cats. It’s been a week or so since my last blog and I’m sure all three people who read it have been like “where did Piper go?” Sorry, I’ve been a writing fool and had to go incognegro for a minute, but I’m back.
Today my question to all who dare to answer is: What color is love?
I ask this because I recently considered the issue of the genre Interracial Romance. I have another blog where I go way in depth about this issue but I decided to toss my two cents over here too. Most novels I read the hero and the heroine are the same race. To me, it’s no big deal, as long as I can identify with the characters in some way they could be purple for all I care.

Dead Inside Trailer

Hello all,

Everyone prepared for the weekend? I know I am. I get to write my butt off this weekend. Woo hoo! To start the weekend off on a positive note, I'm putting up the first trailer made by a for my novel Dead Inside. It's meant to be something fun. I'd love some opinions, so please let me know if you find it interesting.

TTFN,

The Pied Writer

It’s 4am. Your house is as quiet as a tomb and, you’re up before God and everyone with one goal in mind:

“I’m gonna write my ass off today.”

Still sporting the bed head look, your hair sticking up every which way, robe over your favorite ultra-comfy, gray lounge pants and your pink shirt you wouldn’t be caught dead in outside your house, which reads: “Writers do it better,” you’re set. Good to go!

You’re in your office, on your couch, at your kitchen table, in the bathroom, or where ever it is you do your writing. You’ve got your dictionary, thesaurus, pad of paper for those ideas that inevitably pop into your head when you’re busy doing something else and you’ve got your favorite mug filled with coffee or a nice hot tea—depending on what you drink. You’re feeling good about this and totally stoked. After weeks of saying you’d do this, you’ve finally done it. It’s A.I.C. (ass in chair) time. Time to get groovy!

Two hours later…

Lovers, Rubbers, Vampires and Friends

Hello all my favorite people,
I hope you all are well, at least, all who read this. To everyone else, boo on you, but I guess you wouldn’t know I said that so…
Moving on.
So, are you looking at the title like…what the hell? You can’t see it, but I’m shaking my head and grinning like a hooker who scored a millionaire. Can anyone say, Pretty Woman Part Deux?

Any hoot, back to the topic at hand. Let’s start with vampires and friends, better known as, what I like to call them, vampire-friends. They suck no actual blood but they do hold a Ph. D. in sucking you dry of time and energy. It’s always take, take, take and very
little give where these friends are concerned.
As crass and upfront as I’m known to be, I’ll refrain from using names here. Those who think I’m referring to you specifically, shame on you I’d never out you in a blog—not! Those who know me and think this isn’t about you…? I guess we can’t all have perfect insight into ourselves.

Express yourself don't repress yourself

Hola

So, this is a bit of a first for me. I'm not usually an everyday blogger. It's just not how I role. Usually I have so much ish to do I'm lucky to get in the one blog a week.

But, this week...? It's on like Donkey Kong. I must be butter…‘cause I’m on a roll. Now let's get it goin'.

Earlier today I got asked two very interesting questions. First I was asked, "Why do you write such dark stuff? Your romance is dark and sometimes so is your humor."

Next, someone said, after reading some of my work, "Wow! Reading your work is exactly like talking to you. Not really in charge of your filter are you?"

After letting out a string of expletives and unsavory things about both people’s mothers—just kidding, I only said something about one's mother. Lol! Wink, wink. I'll let you decide if I really did either of those.

The point of this blog is: these questions got me thinking about how I write, how others write, and what readers prefer.

Over the years, my writing has progressed and grown, but one thing has remained the same: I write what comes to my mind no matter how dark, dirty, raunchy, sad, goofy, taboo, or controversial. I've always enjoyed pushing the boundaries, testing the limits. It’s my firm belief that true gems of greatness come from people who dared to step outside the box.
